Razor® Segmented Center Blade
The heart of the Pegasus® System is its high-tech Razor® cutting edge — a 3/4″ blade with a welded-on, abrasion-resistant (AR) 5/8″ cover plate. It is the same cutting edge designed for Department of Transportation (DOT) snow plow applications.
The segmented blade interlocks the left and right halves for extra rigidity. Because the Razor® cutting edge is two sections rather than the OEM’s one-piece blade, it is safer and requires less manpower (one person vs. two) to install. The blade is made of 1-1/8″ through-hardened steel compared to the factory’s 1/2″ 1098 high-carbon steel blade. That’s double the thickness and durability!
Superior Carbide Inserts
Carbide is more wear-resistant than anything it will encounter. Winter® carbide snow plow blades with carbide inserts last 10 times longer than the OEM’s hardened steel. The steel portion of the blade holds the tungsten carbide insert in place and the cover plate shields the carbide from impact.
Winter® carbide inserts outlast others because of the high quality of our carbide material and the precise tolerances we hold. We also use an advanced induction brazing process to fuse the tungsten carbide insert to the steel blade for added strength.
WinterFLEX® Rubber Wings
The WinterFLEX® patented design is similar to a radial tire. It features three layers of styrene-butadiene rubber with a proprietary fabric woven inside. The 1-1/2″ thick material was originally developed for DOT snow plow applications.
Both wings are reversible so when the bottoms wear out, they can be rotated 180° to give you two fresh cutting edges. Replacement wings are also available.
High-Strength Hardware
The Pegasus® system comes with Grade 8 bolts and Stover lock nuts that guard against loosening. It is the same bolt kit used on Winter® products for municipal plows.
